NEU.
This project is an introduction to solving a problem around the world regarding the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals. I wanted to choose something that I could understand personally to feel more connected to the project. I looked through the SDG’s and connected with Gender Equality and Responsible Consumption and Production. Immediately, I thought of menstrual inequity and the hardships of period products being over-priced, unfairly taxed, and made unsafely. As a person who has faced and recognized these problems I felt it was my responsibility to spread this information with other people of all identities. For my design concept, I wanted to make the branding neutral and not directly branded to people who identify as women. The purpose of my project is to bring equity awareness to all people who menstruate including trans men, non-binary folx, and people looking into more gender neutral products. The first step I took was creating a branding system. I chose the name "Neu." because it is the root of neutral, but I wanted it to also represent a 'new' way of looking at period products and people that have periods.
